“To be honest, it doesn’t even come to my mind, as long as it allows me to follow my passion for music” Cari Winter says after being asked how it was that she got up every other day to make the 2 hour drive from Southampton into London for 9am sessions at the recording studio in Whetstone, North London. Seeing her prepare for her sessions clearly show the passion and dedication she has for her music. She has always enjoyed music, whether it is singing, writing, recording or just listening. You get that feel from watching her gigs or being around her during her recording sessions.

Genre is not a constraint for her either; she has an eclectic range of music that she loves with a passion. These range from Pop to Jazz and RnB. Although she has focused on pop and new contemporary sounds with regards the material she is currently recording, she still performs Jazz sets along with other genres during her gigs. Her eclectic range of music is reflected in artists she says she has been influenced by; they included Eva Cassidy, Norah Jones, Bill Withers, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera, Missy Higgins, Annie DeFranco, Van Morrisson and Marvin Gaye among many others. She points out Eva Cassidy however has always been her main inspiration. “Her voice sends shivers down my spine and only hope that I will someday give an audience that feeling with my voice” She says. After performing in many shows and competitions as well as having training from the renowned Vocal-Tech in London for a year, she is comfortable communicating with her audience. “I believe the more you connect with and understand a song, the better the performance you will give” she says.
