Though I don't understand you say your country/rock, but I really don't think so judging by that one song. Your more in the Wallflower catagory if u ask me and your not so I'll shut up. The song has the immediate feel of bands like Guns and Roses and Soul Asylum, before the more gentle and breathy vocal appears. The moment where the chorus is expected is a little odd because the guitar lead line seems to take the role of the hook and the melody at this point doesn’t do much to stick in the memory. It generates a lot of space and is simple which is good, but it doesn’t hit home anything particularly significant. The verse sets the feel and type of song well and the lyrics do a good job of setting the scene and setting up the chorus. It’s a shame that the chorus doesn’t deliver on the same or a higher level.

It sounds like the song currently exists as a platform for the guitar playing to exist on top of. It would be better if the song had more strength on its own so that the guitar could then complement it and lift it further rather than being such a focal point. The song has a good band feel and that is not bad at all. It’s just that it lacks the compositional elements in the chorus that would really make it stand out.

The vocal is delivered accurately throughout with a pleasant soft tone.It would have been good to hear a little variation in the tone of the delivery from time to time though. Overall, the song has a good feel. It’s pieced together with strong diatonic harmony providing a good platform for the lyrics to tell their story. It also provides a good platform for the guitar solos to dance across. The melodic hook on the guitar is strong, but the melody of the vocal is a little lack lustre next to it. The song has a lot going for it, but lacks that special something that would make it stand out more.

Keep going because there is definitely some talent here. Try and get a handle on what is unique about what you do and have to say, and figure out a way to ram that home. Then you’ll have something that sticks you out above the others.

Olson's track has a solid but straightforward structure, it's very simple and not nearly original enough, nice guitar solo though, but the vocals aren’t so convincing. There’s clearly musicality here, but would like to hear more developed tracks.

The song is uninteresting and unoriginal, the vocal is very weak and the chord sequence has been used a thousand times before. The lyrics are OK, but somewhat boring with some corny lines.

The guitar solo is classic rock, competent but lacking in new ideas. Try something new!

This song is very old fashioned and unimaginative. The lines are too symmetrical so
the song does not develop and the lyrics are far too repetitive.

I don’t find this vocal pleasant to listen to. There is not enough expression and the
pronunciation is not nearly good enough and there are a number of places where the
tuning is off.

Overall this song needs to be stripped down and rebuilt. There are a few pleasant
changes but the general effect is a bit depressing. Sonically it has no depth and the
lead guitar lines detract from the overall sound.

You need to construct your songs more imaginatively and perhaps avoid trying to
write a ‘pop’ chorus. You also need to develop your vocal tone to get more texture
out of your performances.

The lyrics are cliché ridden, rhyming dictionary-heavy, insincere and slightly meandering. Harmonically its all sound, although pretty dull and uninspiring. The guitar solo is dreadful technically and content-wise. The tired plodding feel really doesn’t help either! These vocals are really pretty dreadful! I’m finding it hard to be positive here! A really contrived and disappointing effort here…I would try a COMPLETELY different angle if i were you!

Impressive syncopation and rhythm on the vocals but the overall song is average, offering nothing new. Try thinking more individually and use your talent in a more personal way.

This song is o.k. I suspect that if it were shortened to 2 – 3 minutes it would translate better. In today’s pop culture presently, guitar solos of any length appear to be rare, and I suspect that a shorter one of these would help reduce the repetition.

I think more development of the lyrics might be helpful, The vocals are dry and require more support. Perhaps more backing vocals? In terms of delivery, they could defintely benefit from more power and some autotune, or better pitching might help.

As a demo it is easy to see where you want to go and this is fine. However on the production of the piece as it stands, there are significant issues. The drums, the acoustic guitars and bass are all far too low in the mix compared with the far too loud solo guitar and vocals.

Some good ideas here, although nothing new.
