Does the world really need a Martin Denny tribute act? I guess there's no reason why not - after all, there used to be dozens of Oasis tribute bands when there was no real need for an Oasis in the first place...

This takes the basic Denny formula - birdsong, vibes, cocktail piano - and translates via a MIDI keyboard.

The tune is a good pastiche of "Tiki" exotica and the lyrics are in every way appropriate to the genre. Does that make it good? Who knows? Does it make it RIGHT? Indeed it does!

The whole thing sounds as if it was probably recorded on a General MIDI workstation or some kind of similar software. There's nothing wrong with any of the music. The vocals are weak, but don't sound out of place.

The sounds are all synthetic, clean, digital and hence a little soulless.

[BTW. Anyone reading this who has never heard Martin Denny's classic late-50s albums should get Spotifying at once.]
