Puncturekit was brought to life after sitting in Green Park with my new bicycle not long after arriving from Australia... no car, no drums, and a need to create beats. With my bike turned upside down, a sketchbook and no desire to be tubing a drumkit around underground, I started dreaming of ways to build my environmental friend. Of course it didn't work out straight off.. but a few tweaks here and there, and now I'm riding and beating the streets and clubs of London and abroad.... hope to see you rain or shine! All beats are recorded on Puncturekit and is also a fully functioning bicycle. Puncturekit is available for live performances (with and without electronica), festivals, DJ collaborations and events. Puncturekit has appeared in TimeOut magazine, Evening Standard newspaper, The London Paper, London Cycling Campaign magazine and busks all over London. Guest Judge Comments on: PUNCTUREKIT's outside the off colour 5 point(s) for Composition / Songwriting This light industrial drum 'n' bass with minimalistic tune was quite pleasant, but didn't really get me too energized. The rhythm was great, but the track didn't really "go" anywhere. 7 point(s) for Performance Hard to say what's happening here, but it sounds like electronic drum programming with some "real-time" elements. Whilst anyone can program a rhythm on a drum machine, in my experience it takes a "real" drummer to make an outstanding rhythm track. As is this. The accompanying sounds are a little thin, and sound as if they might be presets from Reason, or something similar. 6 point(s) for Capture Sounded fine, if maybe a little bass-light for drum 'n' bass. 18 Total Points Like alot of the "Off The Beaten Track" category, I'm not wholly sure why you chose to put your work here, rather than, say, "Dance/Electronica". I would say that I found the video you originally put on your profile page, but which is now gone, of a live performance of playing your bike/drums EXTREMELY interesting engaging and theatrical.
