Interesting subject matter – could do with some irony, however – or perhaps an allegorical link to comment on present-day civilisation (?).

Musically not bad. Rather heavily laden with cosmic synth effects for my taste though. Nice D. Bowie lead vocal but you should develop the “actor” side of your performance.

Overall this song is o.k but needs something more special. The melodic aspect of the song is not sufficiently interesting. Keep striving for originality!

Sorry but I really didn’t like this. I don’t mind being so literal because Somodo just forced me to listen to the story of monkey going into space with not an iota of poetry on any level.


The lyrics felt journalistic. The music, bar chord plain. I don’t care that you decided to put some spacey synth noise in there because that is exactly what an off line editor would have done to the documentary about a monkey that went into space.


I think this really is in the wrong category and had it been elsewhere in this competition it might have garnered less criticism for its clichés and literalness.

You create quite a compelling atmosphere at the start but the use of sound bites and effects becomes too much after a while and the production fails to develop the song
at all. The dependence on this is a pity because you have an interesting voice which you could have used better in the production.

I think you missed an opportunity to take this a lot further and avoid the novelty factor. The repetition of the chorus becomes quickly boring.

I’m not entirely sure where you are trying to go with this – so much seems to be quirky for the sake of it rather than because it has a purpose to support the song.

Intro is toooooo cheesy!! Quite rambling and longwinded arrangement! The lyrics are desperately trying to be funny, but man it's just too blatent and not really clever enough to work! I think the use of the word "monkey" to engender unqualified laughter has run it's course....

Not a great vocal, maybe if it had been it might have helped carry this off… Tuning is bit shaky and its not really a performance, it sounds quite uncertain! I’m not really sure what this artist is about, so I can’t really give any advice… Would he be happy playing it to an A+R guy in a one to one meeting??

Not my cup of tea…
