Voting Rules:
We are now in the final round of this years awards! Please read the following info regarding voting in this round.
Round 3: The Peoples Vote (Final) (from 5th of October 2009 to 27th of November 2009)
The final round is all up to the people to choose a winner. People simply select their favourite artist(s) in a specific category. After 4 weeks of voting ( on the 4th of November at 6pm GMT) , the top 2 artists in each category will then go head to head until voting closes on 27th of November 2009.
* In the final round people only need to cast 1 vote for their votes to count, but can cast as many votes in as many categories as they like.
* Please note that chart placings in the first part of this round will be displayed but the number of points each artist has will remain hidden. Once the final 2 are chosen the charts will become hidden and and the winners will be announced at the end of Round 3.
How To Vote
1) To vote, launch the music player from the music link on the left handside of all pages or from any of the artist's profile pages by clicking on the big black "vote for this song" Button.
2) listen to the songs you like and vote for them by clicking on a number at the bottom of the music player (1 is the highest mark)
Note: you can search for specific bands using the search box at top right of the music player or using the search box at the top left of all pages on the website.
Points System
The Peoples Music Awards uses a points system to calculate the winners which works like this: The song you vote for as no1 gets 5 points, no2: gets 4 points, no3: gets 3 points Number 4 Gets 2 points and places 5 and below all get 1 point.
* The band / artist that is no 1 in the chart(s) each week will move forward to round 2 (the guest judges round) and the rest will move up 1 spot in the chart. This will last for 10 weeks, putting a total of 10 bands / artists from each awards category through to the second round.
You must vote for at Least 3 bands! (in round 1)
To stop any form of manipulation (cheating) we ask that people vote for at least their top 3 favourite bands/artists, otherwise none of your votes will be counted! This deters those naughty people that like to set up multiple accounts and just vote for themselves loads of times. And also lets the real talent through rather than those whose parent might be head of a huge company that tells all their staff to vote for their son’s band (This has actually happened before!). This way of voting actively encourages fans and music lovers to get involved and will be much fairer for everyone.
Voting is completely interactive So if you decide to put someone else in the number 1 spot that will be reflected in the charts instantly. So you can decide who is the top of the charts every week, really making it your chart, the peoples music chart!
*(The star rating options are for your personal use and creating playlists, and have no impact on the charts).
Round 1: The Peoples Vote (from 12th June 2009 until 20th August 2009)
Voting begins on the 12th of June 2009 - New artists can submit songs right up to the end of round 1 on the 20th of August 2009.
The first round is really about getting as many people as possible to vote for your song. So artists will need to do some legwork and get the word out to their fans. For tips on how to gain extra votes and exposure please see the Tips for Artists page.
Round 2: Guest Judges Round (from the 28th of August 2009 until the 5th of October 2009)
This is where we get industry professionals (Guest Judges) to cast their attentive ears over the top 10 songs from round 1 (in each category). They vote and give some constructive feedback on the songs they have heard, with the top 5 moving on to the final round.
Please Note: The opinions expressed by the judges are their opinions alone and TPMA in no way take any responsibility for those opinions expressed (Comments).All contestants will be informed of Comments made about them before publication and have to respond if they would like The Comments not to be published on the website. Failure to respond is deemed acceptance of the publication of the Comment. Any request to not publish the guest judges Comments will be duly considered, but TPMA reserves the right to publish guest judge's comments irrespective of contestant’s wishes. This is part of the unique process of The People's Music Awards and the comments are intended as constructive feedback to help artists develop.

Additional Rules
* 1 person, 1 vote: People are allowed to set up 1 profile each from which they can cast their votes. People with multiple accounts will have their accounts deleted without warning and may be banned form the site!
* A Maximum of 3 people may vote from any individual computer. Any additional votes will be discounted and accounts may be deleted if we suspect cheating.
* Swapping Categories is not allowed: Once voting has started and you have chosen up to 2 categories you can not swap half way through, you must stick with the categories that you choose originally and they must be relevant to the song you enter . TPMA will be keeping an eye on the charts and categories to make sure you are entered into the correct categories and if people swap categories their entry may be discounted. Chart / Category Jumping is unfare on other artists and will be deemed as cheating. Please do not do this!
* Weekly voting for round 1 closes at 6pm (GMT) every Thursday, and re-opens once the votes have been counted and checked, repeating for 10 weeks.
* TPMA will be consistently monitoring the charts and votes to ensure no cheating takes place, and reserve the right to delete any profiles we deem to be suspect without warning or reason.
* TPMA reserve the right to make ammendments to the voting process / rules and any part of the awards process at any time.

* To encourage people to discover new music, the first 50 people that vote for 10 songs (completely filling their top 10 playlist/chart) will get a free ticket to the 2009/10 awards show and after party in London. Once you cast your top 10 votes simply e-mail top10tickets@thepeoplesmusicawards.com with your username so we can verify your votes and we will send you your tickets!
