Not that good, to be frank. If it's going to be social satire it's at least got to be funny, instead this is a cliched send up of student life.

The musical pastiches are fairly leaden and the vocal performance pretty grating, if competently executed in it's way.

Rather flat sounding production. The reggae segment just about gets into the air, but the blues section is pedestrian

Lyrics not my thing but I'm not a student and never was. I went to university for one day. I could not take the idea of more years of long corridors and classrooms.
I am happy that people do go to University because otherwise I wouldn't have any kit to record with and would probably be dead by now from flu. Anyway, this has nothing to do with the track.

I wish the track sounded as dirty as the dirty laundry he's talking about.

Mixing styles in one track can be dangerous territory. Nice one for trying, but personally not sure whether it's working for me in this case. I know it goes with the narrative of the lyrics so there is a point to it.

This style of writing needs to be really top class to work - otherwise it sounds a bit like a private joke. This song says nothing and sounds like it was just made up on the spot.
Not good enough I'm afraid.

The music is very good - in places if a little predictable. The vocal performance is very uninspired and therefore uninspiring.

Quite well recorded in the circumstances but as a result of the vocal it ends up sounding like a very amateurish production - almost a novelty record.

There have been some complete masters at this style of slightly comedic, cheeky chappy, commentary style of music so you need to have something different and interesting to say and you need to sound like you are interested too

Totally derivative. Acid jazz died years ago! Most people think this is a good thing... I'm not really feeling this even as a pastiche composition!!

The arrangement and parts seem a little ambitious for the players. The bass player is holding it down, but the drum performance is notably weak. It might be advisable to keep it much simpler all round (a la early Jams Taylor Quartet). Its also advisable to steer clear of reggae unless you are REALLY comfortable playing that genre! The semi comedy 'get yer common voice on and lets go' vocal is a little tootired for me!!

A funky Ian Dury perhaps? Obviously doesn’t take himself too seriously. It’s a very eclectic mix of styles – blues, jazz, reggae and ska.
